Past Event Highlight: Love Your Watershed Day 2023
Saturday, May 6, 2023
Alto Park
9am-1pm
Join the Santa Fe Watershed Association for Love Your Watershed Day, celebrating the legacy of our Adopt-the-River and Adopt-an-Arroyo programs and the official launch of their next holistic and streamlined incarnation, Adopt Your Watershed!
Love Your Watershed Day, also a new chapter for what would be the 18th Love Your River Day, is the perfect time to gather as a watershed community to celebrate together and continue to co-create the future. The main event will include family friendly activities and educational resources from not only SFWA but some of our fantastic community partners (see below).
In addition to launching Adopt Your Watershed, Love Your Watershed Day will also launch a week of watershed-wide stewardship activities, especially trash cleanup. With our amazing spring runoff and the Living River Pulses, early May is a great time to give some extra love to our river and arroyos by helping clear trash and debris. This spring cleaning can be further inspired by the deep traditions in our watershed, such as the cleaning of our Acequias and the San Ysidro River Blessing on May 15. It is an important reminder that we’re all connected through water!
Stop by the SFWA station to pick up trash bags for your cleanup, as well as our new QR code stickers that link to the trash pickup forms. This enables us to better track how much trash our volunteers are collecting.
To help get your creative juices flowing and spread buzz about the event, we’re collecting haikus, sketches, or other creative tributes to our watershed. You can submit via social media or email to amara@santafewatershed.org. We’ll share them digitally and on the day of the event.

As we reflect on the past 25 years and look to the next 25 (and beyond), SFWA is exploring deeply the role we play in our community and how to be most beneficial. During this exciting period of transition, SFWA invites your input and involvement in assessing how best to leverage our resources to make the most meaningful impact possible, for our entire watershed.
Contact amara@santafewatershed.org if you have ideas to share or would like to volunteer for event planning or execution.
